"Listening Presence" - A Pastoral Care Week Event
Pastoral Care Week is observed annually and offers organizations & institutions opportunities to recognize the spiritual caregivers in their midst and the ministry these caregivers provide.  This year, Pastoral Care Week is observed October 20-26.

On Thursday, October 23, 2008, Dr. P. Randall Wright, Executive Director of The Snail's Pace Christian Retreat Center in Saluda, NC and a pastor for 30+ years, will present a seminar entitled "Listening Presence."  The presentation will focus on the gift of listening and the transformative and healing power of this gift when offered to those we care for.  Dr. Wright will challenge participants to examine how they offer this gift to others as well as offer ways to improve listening skills and presence.

All pastoral care leaders and those interested in pastoral care are invited to attend.  The workshop will be held at the Hospice Home at 2150 NC Hwy 65 in Wentworth, from 8:00am - 1:00pm; cost to attend is $5.00.  To register, contact Sheree Jones, Chaplain & Bereavement Coordinator for Hospice of Rockingham County at (336) 427-9026, ext. 232.

The Rockingham County Spiritual Care Network (Annie Penn Hospital Department of Pastoral Care, Hospice of Rockingham County Chaplaincy Services, and Morehead Memorial Hospital Chaplaincy Services) is sponsoring this program to provide educational and fellowship opportunities for those involved in pastoral care.

Surviving the Holidays When You're Grieving:  Hospice of Rockingham County will offer three separate sessions of this valuable workshop:

Eden Area:  Thursday, November 6th, 2008 at 6:30pm at Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation, 226 N. Annual Service of Remembrance:  Sunday, November 2nd, 2008 at 3:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 7860 NC Hwy 87 in Reidsville.  Hospice of Rockingham County hosts this special service as a way for our families to remember their loved ones who have died within the past year.   Everyone is invited and no reservations are required.  For more information, please call the Hospice office at (336) 427-9022.

Upcoming Volunteer Training

    All prospective volunteers are required to complete volunteer training classes.  HRC traditionally offers training classes on a quarterly basis.  Please check back for our 2009 training class schedule.
