Opting for end-of-life care can be a difficult decision both for patient and caregiver. If you are not too familiar with hospice in general, having multiple hospices from which to choose can make things even more confusing.
Just like the inability to compare apples to oranges, not all hospices are the created the same either. Some are not-for-profit and some are for-profit; some are private and independent and some are part of state- or nation-wide chains. Hospice of Rockingham County is a private, non-profit hospice that has been a part of the local community since November of 1987. The National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization developed a set of questions designed to assist in the decision-making process. Click here for NHPCO’s questions and our agency-specific responses.
